Our attitude towards life affects life’s attitude toward us – Earl Nightingale
Here’s a powerful thought – Just by being a happy person, by focusing on the good rather than the bad, on what we want instead of what we don’t want we are able to transform the world around us. It’s true just one person can make a difference. Why not take this principal and use it to change the way your workplace feels. You spend a lot of time there…wouldn’t it be better if it were a happier place?
Having an upbeat attitude greatly affects the way your customers see and treat you and your business. Would you rather buy something from someone who always seems happy or appears down, indifferent or like they just don’t want to be there? I know which type of person I would rather do business with. Here’s the secret…the way you express your thoughts determine your relationships in life, with customers, coworkers, friends, family and even your spouse. The good news is that it is your choice and your choice alone to focus on negative or positive thoughts.
Negative thinkers are the ‘Debbie-Downers’ of the world and may be so wrapped up in negativity that they cannot see that there are ways out of this cycle. It is common for this type of person to not even realize how negative they are. You may be deprived of almost everything in this world and yet you can always choose your attitude towards it all.
Positive thinkers acknowledge negative circumstances in life but choose to look on the bright side despite any troubles they may have. They don’t let the 1, 2 or 16 things going wrong in their lives negate the 124 things that are going right.
There are wonderful effects that come with having a positive attitude. Here are just a few of them.
Hope – While others may do nothing but complain about certain customers, you see the good in people. You realize that EVERY PERSON deserves respect as a human being regardless of appearances or personal circumstances. When you treat others with this attitude you create a new reality for yourself and those around you.
Self-confidence – It’s not very often that we think about the impact our words have on people’s lives. By using kind words when we speak to ourselves and with others we boost our own self-worth and self- confidence as well as those of the people we are speaking too. Not only will you have a positive impact on someone’s day, you’ll be making our world a happier, nicer, gentler and better place to be.
Inspiration – People look for role models, somebody they can learn from, someone who can motivate them and encourage them to grow. I think Mark Twain summed up how to find a role-model best “Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you too, can be really great”. By being the happy positive person that you are, you inspire others to do the same. Look for ways to inspire and share your happiness with those around you.
