Change just 1 thing…

Study after study shows that customer service standards continue to fall. In part because of the technology available today, we are losing our ability to connect with other people on a human level and that’s sad. But there is more to it than that, many people have just stopped making the effort to connect altogether. The good news is that working in the customer service industry; we are uniquely positioned to make a lasting difference in our workplaces and our worlds. And it all begins with making 1 little change…

Imagine what could happen if we all did just ONE THING to improve our connections with customers!

What if you:

Smiled at every customer – whether they were ’your’ customer or not.

Remembered a repeat customer’s name – They are there all the time… why not know who you are talking to?

Looked people in the eye – I know it can be scary, but it goes a long way toward relating towards others.

Followed up with that nervous customer – Almost nothing builds loyalty faster.

Picked up something on the floor – I know you didn’t drop it there, but that’s not the point.

Took better care of yourself – If you feel good, you have more to give to others.

These are just a few examples out of the dozens of things you could do, if everyone who works with customers just chose one and did it consistently, the ripple-effect could change the face of business as we know it today and our lives would never be the same – they would be richer in a way that money cannot buy.

As the New Year approaches, instead of making grand resolutions that are hard to keep, I challenge each and every one reading this blog to make just one change, and invite your co-workers to join you. Together we truly can make the world a better place to work and live in.
