Working in the customer service field isn’t easy. It’s often difficult and unsung work for too little pay. Frequently customers show you little respect, won’t look you in the eye or worse are verbally abusive. All this can lead you to believe your job is insignificant or unimportant. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Service driven employees are the backbone of any client based businesses.
Here’s an analogy. Generals in the military are thought of as high status, but it’s the troops that liberate a country. The troops are the often the anonymous heroes of our country. That doesn’t make them any less significant.
Working in customer service is a little like that. You have a unique skill set that can be hard for others to define. Customer service is about connecting with people and crafting their experience with your business. The encounters you create for your customers keeps those customers coming back over and over again. The customer service profession is work you can be proud of.
