It’s a fact that every one of us in one way or another wants to be successful and achieve our dreams. Most of the time we rely on luck and chance to get us there rather than forming ourselves into a person who is capable of turning those dreams into realities. To become your own success story you CAN NOT settle for life by default!
One of the best ways to create the life you want is to work on becoming the best version of you that you can by having a strong focus on your own personal development. I mean, if you don’t make yourself a priority…who will? Working on your personal growth can be fun! It’s not like learning calculus but rather discovering yourself and making the most of your individual brand of mojo. There are lots of good resources out there; such as http://www.stevepavlina.com and of course Ms. Chatterback! Be sure to choose the ones that make you feel good rather than those that leave you feeling beat up.
The areas of your life self-development can help you improve include:
Habits – create a daily routine that gives you a sense of flow
Career – build a work life you’re truly passionate about
Money – learn to achieve financial stability without compromising your integrity
Health – Adopt habits that energize your body
Relationships – enjoy positive interactions with the people in your life.
Here are some of my favorite ways to start improving your life…not that I hit all of them every day, but I do make the attempt. All it takes to get started is a little bit each day and you will see astonishing results!
Kick-start your morning this means getting up early and eating a healthy breakfast. You’ll be rewarded with much more energy to power through your day. If you live with other people, eat together. What a great opportunity to make sure you stay in touch when life gets busy.
Take a break and have fun! You work hard doing whatever it is your job commands you to so, ‘get –a-life’ to balance things out. You don’t need to take time away from your job to do this, just make sure to make good use of your time off and do something that brings you joy. Many people have trouble getting away from their computer, laptop or phone to get together with friends or family as much as they should. When you spend time with people you like, doing things you enjoy, you’ll wonder what took you so long.
Give back – I’m not talking about money. Be generous with your smiles or good advice, be a shoulder for someone to lean on. Try to find a way to help others. Everyone needs help at some point in their life; someday it may even be you.
Don’t procrastinate – I admit falling into this trap myself. But it feels SO good when you complete a task. When you leave projects undone it will persistently be in the back of your mind until you free yourself by finishing it and crossing it off your list. Have you ever not filled your gas tank and regretted it the following morning? See what I mean?
If you can’t fix something – accept it. Sometimes bad things happen. Instead of getting mad or falling into a funk just acknowledge that the situation well…sucks and move on. Say you’ve made a mistake and you only have $20 until next payday – 10 days away. Realize that freaking out isn’t going to change the situation. Figure out a way to survive on what you have until next payday and don’t let it sink you into despair. Don’t isolate yourself either, stay connected to people who make you happy, laugh and remember there is still plenty to celebrate in life.
